Due to low sales on our ‘Give-Back Shop’ platform, it is no longer cost-effective to maintain it. The shop will close from 1 August 2026. Remaining items will be offered as raffle prizes at future events.

In May 2026 we will be announcing the nominations process for the second National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) Annual Gala Dinner & Campaigners Awards.

The NMPMFF worked in partnership with INQUEST and the Family Reference Group to host the Shine The Light event held in Birmingham in January 2026 for families from the West Midlands region.

The new National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) Therapy Care Initiative Pilot funded by the Lottery Community Fund, is now active, with the selection process resuming shortly.

Over the last 2+ years the NMPMFF has lost approximately 116 of our regular monthly donors leaving just 63; and recently saw the end of core funding for two critical staff.

In June 2025 we were pleased to announce that The National Lottery Community Fund awarded the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund £19,984 in grants to support our development.

In September 2025 the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) will be proudly marking 10 years since its inception by the campaigning news group 4WardEverUK.

We are pleased to announce that The National Lottery Community Fund has awarded £19,984 in grant funding to the NMPMFF to further the commitments from our Development Plans.

Over the last 2+ years the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) has lost 80+ (60%) of regular monthly donors, and our grant and reserves are almost depleted.

The shop can now be used by any visitors to the NMPMFF website to purchase from the range of products or services. Affected families may be eligible for discounts at our discretion.

The National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund is poised to launch the 4th round of Holiday Scheme awards on 20 February supporting children, young people and families.

We were proud to present our second annual report of activities in 2022 and 2023. The 7 September 2023 marked 8 years since the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund was founded.

On December 7, 2024, led by Benjamin’s family supported by NMPMFF, the heart of Newham and the literary world will unite in a celebration of the life and legacy of the iconic Benjamin Zephaniah.

The third National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) Holiday Grants round closed on 7 September 2024. This followed recent changes to simplify the application process.

In our previous report we outlined why the National Memorial Family Fund would be making some significant changes to our grant making and administrative systems in 2024.

The National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund first launched the Crisis Family Fund in March 2021 in partnership with the United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC).
