The Edge Fund has announced that its 16th funding round is to open in August 2024. Here you can find the answers to questions that are frequently asked about their application process.

They will award 40 grants of £1,000 to groups in the UK and Ireland.

The application form will be available on their website from 12 August to 13 September.

WHAT THE FUND WILL SUPPORT?

  • Applications with a primary objective of creating long-term change in society by addressing the causes of injustice and inequality
  • Groups addressing issues that face a particular community that are led by that community
  • Groups that struggle to get funding elsewhere, particularly if other funders might consider them to be "too radical."
  • All types of non-profit organisations, including groups that are not formally registered.

The decision making process:

Funding decisions are made collectively by Edge Fund members, who cover a broad range of issues and communities and income levels.

Through members’ meetings they discuss next steps, any issues that have arisen and decisions that need to be made, and as a group decide how to move forward.

Decisions are made by consensus whenever possible, or otherwise by majority vote. Some discussions take place by email or over Zoom. They also have a Core Group of around 5-10 members who do the background work before meetings, to prepare proposals for members to discuss.
