Round 2 closed on 7 September 2023!

With thanks to a previous donation of £10,000 from the United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) and Migrant Media (through the Legacy Fund), the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund is poised to launch the 2nd round of Holiday Scheme awards on 7 August supporting children, young people and families.

Families and campaigns will be able to apply to a designated fund which will:

  • Award fixed-amount grants for group outings/holidays and short breaks
  • Consider group applications made up of minimum pre-set number of adults and children/young people
  • Ensure applicant groups are not all from a single family/campaign
  • Encourage participation jointly with other families/campaigns in their region
  • Include NMPMFF Assessment Partners as eligible applicants

The second awards round will allocate 7 awards of £600 and one gold award of £1,000 towards the overall cost of recreational events that meet a standard set of requirements.

When will this grant round take place?

This round opened on 7 August and close on 7 September.

Tippa Naphtali, founder of the NMPMFF said;

"The ongoing pain of affected families often gets lost in the equally important work of

campaigning and lobbying of the state. We are extremely grateful for the support of the

UFFC Legacy Fund which will help us deliver one of our key aspirational initiatives"

The Holiday Scheme Initiative summarised

From the Spring of 2023 the NMPMFF committed to provide contributions towards respite breaks, group outings and short UK-based holidays tailored for children, young people and families affected by custody deaths and killings. These would include river and coach tours, activity and theme parks, and self-catering breaks and more!

Working closely with Family Contact Groups throughout the country, the NMPMFF would consider applications for a range of social activities that are requested, designed and delivered by the applicants in UK-wide localities.

We look forward to hearing from you!
