Sorry! Round 1 applications are now closed!

With thanks to a previous donation of £10,000 from the United Families & Friends Campaign (UFFC) and Migrant Media (through the Legacy Fund), the National Mikey Powell Memorial Family Fund (NMPMFF) will be launching the Holiday Scheme Initiative in the Spring/Summer of 2023 supporting children, young people and families.

Families and campaigns will be able to apply to a designated fund which will:

  • Award fixed-amount grants for group outings/holidays and short breaks
  • Consider group applications made up of minimum pre-set number of adults and children/young people
  • Ensure applicant groups are not all from a single family/campaign
  • Encourage participation jointly with other families/campaigns in their region
  • Include NMPMFF Assessment Partners as eligible applicants

Across two award rounds there will be allocations of fifteen awards of £600 and one gold award of £1,000 (for a particularly inventive proposal) towards the overall cost of recreational events that meet a standard set of requirements.

When will grant rounds take place?

The first awards round will open on 7 April and close on 7 May.

The second will open on 7 August and close on 7 September.

Awards application forms & information:

Applications can be submitted from 7 April 2023.

Round 1 applications closed @ 10pm, 7 May 2023.

Important: Only registered families/campaigns and NMPMFF Assessment Partners can apply for awards, but any affected families/campaigns can be participants in the actual outings or holidays applied for!

Tippa Naphtali, founder of the NMPMFF said;

"The ongoing pain of affected families often gets lost in the equally important work of

campaigning and lobbying of the state. We are extremely grateful for the support of the

UFFC Legacy Fund which will help us deliver one of our key aspirational initiatives"

The Holiday Scheme Initiative summarised

From the Spring of 2023 the NMPMFF will provide contributions towards respite breaks, group outings and short UK-based holidays tailored for children, young people and families affected by custody deaths and killings. These will include river and coach tours, activity and theme parks, and self-catering breaks in some of the UK's areas of outstanding beauty.

Working closely with Family Contact Groups throughout the country, the NMPMFF will consider applications for a range of social activities that are requested, designed and delivered by the applicants in UK-wide localities. Resources will be made available to successful applicants to help cover the costs of their respite breaks, group outings and short UK-based holidays.

We look forward to hearing from you!
